Aguila Roja

My favourite TV programme is an intrigue and drama series which is called "Águila Roja". The series is shown every week in TVE1 on thursday at 22:00h (but the first season already has been ended).

It happens in the Spain of century XVII where the people cry in their houses while the nobility conspires to destroy the king and to finish with the Austrias. Between secrets of policy one woman die, Cristina, the teacher's of the village wife. And the teacher, Gonzalo, decides to avenge her. How? ... He is Águila Roja, a popular hero, always accompained by his servant and page, Satur, and who for avenging his wife discovers the conspiracy against the king. Even so he want avoid that they killer the king with the help of a monk.
The days pass and he have got a double personality, and starts to have got some problems... His son, Alonso, thinks that he is a coward because he don't want to find the killer of his mother. The Marquise of Santillana, Lucrecia, wants kill the Águila but also wants the love of the teacher, and she is a piece in the plans for the fall of the king. The aunt of Alonso, Margarita, comes to live with them, but Gonzalo hates her, he thinks that she is the reason for which his parents were dying in the jail. And she fight inside her because she is married but she loves Gonzalo, and Juan, the doctor of the village.
The intrigue appears in all the episodes, Gonzalo's origin isn't very defined... until the end of this first season, more characters appears: Nuño, the Marquise's son, Juan results to be a old friend of the Marquise, El Comisario who is like a dog of the Marquise because he loves her, and always try help her, the People of the village that they have got their stories... And this series still hasn't ended! It's a really entertaining series, fairly long but extremely good.

All in all, I think that if the Spanish films aren't very good, the series yes because this and others (like El Internado, Cuenta Atrás, The paco's men...) are very good. We have got quite good actors and actresses. For the moment this series is more worn out that I've seen, they play very well with the personalities and feelings of the characters, and with the plot.
